Comment on the whole book

All in all I really liked the Book "Looking for Alaska" from John Green because it shows different topics of life we all have to deal with. It shows how a different places can change peoples character and how people can change other characters.
But the most important topic for me is that the book shows that it doesn't matter how many money your parents have, my example is the Colonels mother who lives in a trailer, you can alway be a part of a group.
Also the book gives coverted advices to the topic death. It tells you not to give up and that it's not bad to be sad.

Concluding I'd say that this book is uninhibited and that makes it interesting and in that way it's easier ti teach students in some topics. So John Green wrote a quiet good book, which I pretty like :)

Pages 209 to 221

On the last pages I was so anoyed about Miles because while the Colonel tries to find out what happend in the night when Alaska died, Miles is only carring about her last words to him "To be continued?". He is angry about her because she broke her promise and just left and he thinks that he was the only boy in her world and that this night could has changed everything.
He don't want to help the colonel for example by calling Jake who seems to be the last one she talked to. At that part he's very egoistical and comparing that to a death of a friend, it's awful.
Disregarding from Miles I liked the end because they all trie to fnd out what happend and they don't give up life because someone you really love dies.

Pages 160 to 209

This extract is about how Miles, the Colonel and Takumi find back into life. They often think about why Alaska died or if it was a suicide. Miles and Colonel have much conflicts in the beginning of the extract, but both get along. Then Miles and Lara speak out and he recognize that not only he and the Colonel are in sorrow of Alaska. The group also want to do a great prank for the Eagle.

I liked this extract, because it is about how find back after a fatality. Such fatalities are tragical and it is not easy to come back into the normal life. Furthermore they think about Alaskas death all day. Maybe it  isn´t good to think all day about a death person, but they have to process it and I also think about much things which aren´t relevant for the present or the future. Miles and the Colonel wants to know how she died, so they also drink much alcohol like Alaska did. This shows us that both are really friends of Alaska  and that´s good. Friendship is the most imprtant thing for me more than relationships in families, because you can´t choose them. I like that Miles, who didn´t have much friends in the past, found Chip and others, but I don´t like it, that they drink and smoke to be cool and that they play a lot of pranks for the Eagle. In my opinion that isn´t cool, but it´s great to see, that  they hold together even if thy have conflicts.
All in all I would say, that this extract is nice, because of the thinking about death and the way back into life.

Pages 139 to 160

The book "Looking for Alaska" is devided in to parts. On page 139, it began the second part "after". From this page, the story changes.
Miles and the Colonel sleep in their room, when the Eagle wake them up, becuase they have to come to the gym now. Miles aks himself why, but he probably know it. Because they drank too much in a short time and while thinking he can taste Alaska. Then the Eagle says that Miles and the Colonel aren´t in trouble. They only have  go to the gym now. While clothing dresses both make jokes about their hang over. Both are in a good mood. In the gym. was a podium set up and it was half ful of students and some teachers where there. The Colonel tells Miles about Dr. Hydes died wife. So he was sad because of Dr. Hyde and exited of Alaska . Then the Eagle begins to aks, if everyone is there. So Milers answers that Alaska isn´t there. The Eagle ignores this and  aks   for the second time. Miles repeat his answer, that Alaska isn´t there, but then the Eagle looks to Miles. He is crying. Tears just rolled from his eyes. (p. 141 ll.109 Miles wants that all they wait for Alaska. He wants to get the answer, that it isn´t happened what he didn´t quite believe. Then the Eagle looks down and says, that Alaska Young was in a tragic accident. His tears came slower. "And she was killed. She had passed away," he says that full of sadness. (p. 141 ll. 149 After that everyone was in silence and the next days were  full of grief  and emptiness, like how it is, after members or friends get to know abou their deceased relatives and freinds. They are very sad and don´t know how it´s going on, but at Culver Creek, The Eagle and Dr. Hyde try to comfort them.
Up to page 160 the Colonel and Miles want to find out the "w" questions of this accidant. They think about her last behaviour and if she had a reason to kill herself. Both feel very unsatisfactory and guilty, becuase they were her friends and maybe she killed herself.

Pages 139-160

These pages were the most surprising. I never thought that this book would end up like this.
And I asked myself so many questions. Why do the Colonel and Miles help Alaska when she wants to leave in the middle of the night? Why don't they restrain Alaska when she wants to drive a car while she's drunken? Why does Alaska leave? When she leaves I thought that she would go to Jake because of a bad concience. Or she misses home. I never thought that she would die by an car accident. That is so mad.
This paragraph shows the first real development of the whole book. The shy boy Miles who never talks about sex has a blow-job with Lara and talks about that very open. Also the mood of Alaska developed. She becomes hysteric, doesn't think about any consequences. She becomes careless and that is the reason why her life ends. But I also asked myself if it was her idea to kill herself.

Pages 84-99

Somehow I liked the pagragraph from the pages 84 to 99 because my impression when Alaska and Miles met for the first time was that they are two completly different characters. Alaska is more open in talking about sex and something like that and Miles is more a shy boy.
And in this paragraph Miles and Alaska spent time together without the Colonel or Takumi so we can see the contrast. Alaska wants to watch a porn with Miles. For Alaska it's no "problem" but I got the feeling that Miles was a little bit ashamed about that situation. Also it underlines how much in love Miles is, he gushes from their touches and describes his feelings. But what I asked myself about this whole thing was, why Alaska wants to watch a porn with Miles? Does she want to see his reaction or does she wants him to melt and to show him that he mustn't be ashamed about the topic "sex"?
As a concluding comment I want to make clear that I think the paragraph shows a little more about Miles character and his way of thinking.

Pages 78 to 83

On pages 78 and 79, Miles and Alaska talk about the "Decapitation" a video game. After some minutes Miles feels asleep so he sleeps for  half an hour. After that, Alaska sats next to him, putting her arms around his hip. During this situation, he feels the nervous warmth of touching. He isn´t sure, what he has to think about her, but he knows that he wants to find out more about her.
Then both talk about Jake and thanksgiving. Alaska aks him, if he will be at Creek for thanksgiving, because she would looking forward it. So he doesn´t know, if he has to be there at Creek or not but,´cause of liking Alaska he will be be at Culver Creek for thanksgiving.
