When I first red the part where Miles an Alaska were talking about the labyrinth I could imagine that it shall symbolise that it doesn't matter which step you take, there will always be problems, the problems are the walls of the labyrinth which refuse the escape. But if you go straight on you will find your aim.
So Alaska askes if the labyrinth is living or dying (p.23, l.26) and which you try to escape, the world or the end of it (p.23, l.27). So I guess it needs more experience of life to understand the quotation and Alaska is defenetly too young to understand.

I agree with you. I would say that there are problems and it doesn´t matter which way you go.There are many different ways, but you must decide which way you want to go. You will also get problems while going this way but life is hard and unfair and the labyrinth symbolize it. They talk about the labyrinth but they think about the life and the psychological view of life indirectly but awarely.
AntwortenLöschenI mean the labyrinth stands for life and they talk indirectly about it. So the reader get to know some traits of Miles and Alaska, while talking abut their life viw.
I am also your opinion that Alaska is to young to understands the quotations really, but I like people who thinks about life and other psychological questions, because I think it is good to think about life. Such people seems to be profound. And that is a good property.
So all in all I would agree with your statement, but I think talking and thinking about some life views is very good, even if you are a little bit to young.
